Stories
We have heard them, and told them. We’ve learned them, we’ve earned them, and we’ve most certainly have lived them. It is these lived stories, these lived experiences that shape us. They make us who we are…all of them combined like a book that continues to expand, one chapter at a time as we continue to be and become. It is a compilation of our journey…the good, the bad and the ugly, the trials and the victories, the growing and the stretching, the perseverance that makes way for promotion as each story equips us with what we need for the next. However, we are not writing these stories on our own nor are we lone travelers. Rather, there is an Author at work in our lives who lovingly, gracefully, and faithfully walks with us each step of the way. Moreover, He orchestrates divine encounters and interactions with others that are willing to travel with us through the valley, climb up the mountain and rejoice with us when we reach the peak. He blesses us with resources and people who truly know our story because they helped us write it. To be a part of such an experience is an honor and a privilege. It is a vital role that Omega NW embraces fully…one intern at a time…one moment at a time.
As each woman becomes an Omega NW Intern, they do so with great expectation. They are looking forward to a chapter that is far different from those in their past. These women who have overcome so much know and understand that there is still more work to be done and more goals to achieve. They come with a “Yes!” in their spirit and their sleeves rolled up…they are ready to do some new things so that they may experience some new things. Omega NW feels honored and blessed to partner in this process as they come alongside each intern through one-on-one mentorship, offering bible studies for those who are interested and hands on training through a paid internship where they are trained to become a barista, retail associate and or other professional positions. Participating businesses join in the journey by offering the space and grace for these training opportunities as a springboard to even greater possibilities. Through this process, stories of revelation, redemption and restoration are written. It becomes that season where those chapters bent towards destruction become tales of victory as each intern learns who they are, whose they are and the unlimited possibilities of where they can go with the One who made them and has ordered their steps.
As an Omega NW Board member, I am inspired by the women who have successfully entered into Omega NW’s internships. I am humbled, honored and blessed to be a part of their journey towards healing and wholeness. These woman of courage and great strength are potent reminders that there is nothing too impossible for the One who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or imagine. To that end, I will never grow weary of hearing their stories of triumph and overcoming circumstances that sought to undermine their pursuit of peace, promotion, and possibilities. These stories…these journeys require these women’s brave participation and the participation of others as well. Omega NW facilitates the process that grows and stretches each intern while business owners provide the space for each intern to learn new skills. How ALL of this comes together is through donations that assist in creating more and more paid internships that will touch more and more women.
