Her Home Was Isolated and Remote
The scraps of materials gathered or found from places like Craigs List, crafted the secluded house built by her parents. It lacked much, including safety and the internet. What it crafted in her was a sense of independence and adventure. Mom provided lots and lots of books,
instilling a self-propelled desire to learn.
When it was revealed from her family’s court case that she and her siblings were not being cared for properly and not attending school, DHS stepped in. The circumstances put her behind in her education, and the impact shifted her concerns.
As the oldest teenage daughter at home, she feels the responsibility to care for her younger siblings. When she could be enjoying college or making new friends at a job, her self-made role is making sure her siblings are fed. Spending money comes from selling plasma.
Once again there are hurdles. And once again there are opportunities.
Once again there is grit & grace.
She has a drive beyond her years to not be a statistic.
This caring and precious 19-year-old is taking her past in stride… for now. She has other things on her mind. The strength inside her expects and plans for a better future, hoping to be a care giver, utilizing her natural abilities.
